I wrote this brief composition to provide a developmental framework for cognitive and spiritual growth. When I studied psychology, I realized that Sigmund Freud's construct of our tri-fold basic nature consisting of the id, ego and superego was creative and provided some benefit, but lacked great detail: there are only three categories. (The id represents the part of us that seeks instant gratification. It is our immature child nature, forever wanting to play and feel good while avoiding discomfort and responsibility. In contrast, the superego corresponds with our conscience. It represents our adult nature, the urge to tend to our duties while forgoing more desirable and pleasurable pursuits. The ego is the part of our self that mediates between the two.)

Another influential psychologist, Abraham Maslow, also developed a unique and creative construct of Self consisting of a pyramidal "Hierarchy of Needs." It divides human nature into a journey of evolutionary steppingstones. (Our basic security needs must be met before we can ascend the ladder of self-expression to achieve self-actualization. Food and shelter are required for our basic survival. Love and the need for emotional belonging exist higher up the pyramid. Only after our lesser needs are satisfied can we be free enough to creatively express our highest calling.)

With these patterns as a model (though not necessarily as an ideal), I developed a more expansive creative construct that can be used to better understand our basic nature and achieve our highest potential. I call it "17 Divisions of the Mind." Unlike conventional psychology that mainly seeks to comprehend human nature from a biological, environmental, emotional and cognitive perspective, my 17 divisions incorporate spiritual aspects of our whole being. In a nutshell, your essential goal is to increasingly improve your ability to focus on mutual needs and group concerns -- in contrast to personal wants and desires. Thus, this 17-fold division of human nature is a developmental pathway as well, and can be considered from the perspective of a single lifetime, over several lifetimes (if your belief systems permit), or as a model of our common human lineage as we progress from our earliest history into our unknown future.

Introduction

This treatise is designed to aid the "neophyte upon the Path" in his or her ever persistent endeavors at self-actualization, or soul merging, as I prefer to define the term. In it, I propose to classify and elucidate upon a 17-fold division of the Mind. This will enable the true seeker to determine his or her precise location, or reference point, upon the "totem pole" of self-expressive potentiality.

Before we begin, I am inclined to caution the reader against too quickly establishing judge-mental constraints with regard to the material herein presented. The seventeen divisions of the Mind may at first appear arbitrary. However, the terms and classifications used within this discourse have been precisely defined; this should serve to limit the extent of any preconceived notions about the meaning of that which is given. The following information is offered as a tool to be utilized in your drive toward Spirit-U-All reunion. Accept it with this in mind. Now, let us begin.

In the Beginning...

As the creative spark of Spirit-U-All integrity (God!) sends forth its essential identity, souls are born. In a corresponding manner, as the fundamental nature of each soul extends portions of its vitality into physical existence, that is, via the "extensions" of its own being -- mainly through birth -- personalities are born. It is to these portrayals of Spirit-U-All existence that I speak.

All personalities try to overcome apparent limitations, achieve heightened levels of self-awareness, and become at one with the source of their own beings. To accomplish this, one basic factor must be acknowledged -- the power that subconscious thoughts exert over conscious, everyday choices. Toward these objectives, a conceptual aid was developed through which the extended portions of each soul might better realize who they truly are, and what they are trying to accomplish. It was designed to alleviate "existential disparities" so that hindrances to the full realization (actualization) of one's essential nature may occur. Of course, the process of transforming destructive subconscious influences into productive soul-serving patterns of reality isn't unique, although the approach I offer is. It will permit a greater measure of self-control to the man or woman interested in observing, and reversing, the process of subconscious patterning. In this way, it is hoped, each seeker will more clearly perceive the creative and destructive means by which he or she wills into existence all that is experienced. A greater degree of divine responsibility, or self-mastery, may then occur. The framework to utilize during this process will now be given.

If we understand the role of each personality-extension (you!) to be that of re-uniting with the soul, and if we imagine the lowest division of the mind as representing the grossest deviation from that purpose, it is but a logical next step to view each mental category as a stepping stone toward this goal. In other words, the seventeen divisions of the mind also represent seventeen stages of growth.

As young and inexperienced personalities attempt to reunite with the source of their essence, difficulties are encountered in the actualization process. The personality, as an aspect of its guiding soul, believes itself incapable of existing at certain levels of awareness. Such false beliefs distort the truth.

As the experiences of each soul increase, there come times when false beliefs are replaced by "false beliefs with higher aspects of truth." It is not until the subconscious patterns underlying the false beliefs -- including the motivational incentives for building psychological castles in the sky -- are removed, that real growth can begin. False beliefs, then, are chosen modes of reality serving their purposes at each lower rung of the actualization ladder. They are perceived as false only upon reflection, once having achieved the next higher level.

Subconscious patterns are the foundations upon which false beliefs are built. Surprisingly, these are derived from the initial Blueprint for Growth* established by the soul. In other words, the motivational incentives toward perceptual disparities (the impetus or inclination toward certain beliefs) are as inherent to the striving personality as are the urges of that personality toward self-actualization. Such apparent conflicts of interest serve to promote a dynamic interaction between the upper and lower regions of the Mind. The expectation is that through this process new and more productive patterns will succeed previously held beliefs. In this way the entire process is: 1)self-perpetuating, 2)growth-promoting, and perhaps most significant of all, 3)an inducement to exercise one's inalienable right to choose among options -- to fully express one's free will, albeit, even if at incompletely conscious levels.

*Note: "Blueprint for Growth" is a reference to the soul's thematic goal, or life purpose, for the personality-extension it oversees. Everyone is born with an individualized design for self-actualization -- a distinctive Plan for optimal Self-expression in this life. It essentially entails making positive contributions to humanity.

Now it is time to preview the various stages of growth. We'll begin with the four emotional correspondences to the seventeen divisions of the Mind.

AN OVERVIEW

Instinctual Emotion (Lower Emotional Level):

Personalities operating within the first three divisions of the Mind, via the lower emotional mode, do so in a truly unconscious manner. Literally undifferentiated in relation to the world, these extensions still await the realization that there is something to be realized. Reacting to the ebb and flow of unperceived influences, the myopic masses stuck within this level of growth experience and express behavioral patterns threatening to individual and societal continuity. Emotional fixations of every type may be observed at this level, including perversions of the creative function, sexual depravity, deeply rooted neuroses, psychoses, anger, greed, lust, envy, and fear. These represent just a few of the many "false" beliefs dictating reality at this stage. Yet, as already noted, even these otherwise destructive tendencies serve their purposes, for in spite of a soul's earthly inexperience, it grows in awareness through every experience, and that is a lesson realized at higher levels.

Human Emotion:

Whereas "pre-man" was but an unthinking automaton reacting to his environment at the lower emotional level, at the human emotional stage he begins the process of what may be described as independent thought. At this point in his journey he is also able to establish a sense of identity. Here is where the rudimentary ego, born during the earlier stage, learns to acknowledge its own identity -- pre-man's initial awareness of self as an individual being.

Although subterranean emotional complexes persist as dynamic and powerful influences at this stage, objective analyses occur more frequently. The use of the mind (as the term is commonly applied), the ability to think and reason, keen observational skills, and a questioning attitude also apply to this realm.

A heightened appreciation for subjective states of awareness usually indicates that one is nearing his or her growth potential at this stage. When logic is perceived as an incomplete mental tool, and existing belief structures appear to be arbitrarily devised, another level and new hurdles are about to be faced.

Mature Emotion:

In the mature emotional stage new conceptual relationships are established -- within oneself, among others, as well in relation to the cosmos. Distorted beliefs are now perceived in the light of more encompassing realities. Yet, the ability to act on these perceptions is limited. Individual and collective responsibilities are sporadically pursued at this stage, but the real purpose of one's existence is not established as a spiritual directive until the final level is reached.

Other expressions associated with this stage include: an active imagination, intuitive and psychic sensitivity, confusion, apathy, vacillation and indecision. A global identity, altruism, compassion and understanding are also developed at this stage.

Emotional Prototype:

The title of this concluding stage adequately alludes to the lofty expectations required and expected of oneself when operating within its domain. Here is where personalities complete their final purifications before achieving their dream of several lifetimes. But a dream it is not, for at this level practical results are sought. Conceptual perceptions, abstract constructs, and a "balanced" viewpoint were developed during the third stage; level four requires proof of one's divine sincerity. Talk is cheap; action produces results. Thus, service -- actualizing one's Blueprint for Growth -- is the key to pre-man's final release from the wheels of time and illusions of space. Through service, truth seekers are able to rise from the emotional depths to reach for, and achieve, the heights of spiritual unity. And in that process "pre-man" will be transmuted into "hue-man" -- a colorful reflection and radiant manifestation of God, a self-actualized, soul merged being of light who has attained for all eternity, freedom from his own separate identity.

REFINEMENTS

1. Mechanical (Negative-Receptive):

The journey begins with the mechanical phase. However, if you are capable enough to read and comprehend this paper, your existence within this realm was relatively brief, and occurred many, many years ago. Metering your growth, you realized that physical embodiments of this nature were in opposition to the true needs of the soul. Yet, today there are entities who find it necessary to experience this mode for extended periods of time.

In this initial phase we may observe personality-extensions who react instinctively to the primordial images of authority. Here we find groups of people irrationally influenced by powerful and manipulative leaders. They do not question the motivations of those they've sided with, nor their own neurotically subservient attitudes. They are swept along by the tide of least resistance. (Hence, our secondary title for this stage -- the negative-receptive.)

On a planetary scale, many of these individuals (truly a misnomer) may be found wherever, and whenever, blind adherence to an idea (in contrast to an ideal) commands their participation. Mechanically, then, they react to externally based directives.

On a personal level, each and every time you fail to question the reasons behind your actions, you are, in effect, manifesting qualities associated with this phase. (Following the lead of those who express elements of truth should not be confused with blind adherence to authority.) Thus, growth at this stage is determined by subtle gradations between absolute passivity and utter acquiescence.

2. Reactionary:

In the reactionary phase a balance is sought, for here is where the individual (not yet!) reverses polarity and willfully expresses his or her emotional desires. Authority is uncritically rejected, for now it is experienced as an obstacle to the immediate and unbridled gratifications of the moment. These extensions may be considered irrational and unstable. Other indications pointing to a fixation at this phase include many of the disturbing obsessive-complusive patterns of self-expression, including unrestrained anger, jealously, lust, greed, and fear.

3. Emotional-Submissive:

In this final stage of the lower emotional level, the explosive, subconscious reactions to insubstantial stimuli are more subdued. Patterns of expediency no longer sway the individual's choices with the same virulent intensity. Anger, jealously, lust, and greed no longer reek from the personality. In fact, these extensions are now on the throes of resisting temptation; emotional expression is more restrained and focused. The fundamental nature of the individual is stabilized and strengthened. Psychological fortitude is established, along with a rudimentary set of personal convictions.

Summary: Our brief analysis of the first three divisions of the Mind yields the following: Mechanical extensions blindly submit to externally based directives; Reactionaries are immersed in patterns of expediency and self-gratification; Emotional-Submissives are developing patience and fortitude, while learning to quell inner turmoil and resist temptation.

4. Personality Awareness:

In the personality awareness phase, the first within the human emotional level, the process of differentiation is begun. Here is where the ego* appears to be born. [The ego is "truly" born at the moment of the extension's separation from it source, at birth (rebirth). This occurred in the mechanical phase.] During this present stage, the ego becomes aware of itself in a conscious manner for the first time. Thus, here is where self meets self.

*Note: The ego, or personality consciousness -- the "I" of lower self -- is the means by which the soul is able to achieve full expression, or self-actualization, within the physical realm.

It is important to realize that during this stage the ego becomes aware of, and begins to identify with, its lower self only -- the personality aspect of its nature. The ego does not yet identify with its greater Self, the soul aspect of its identity. Yet, in spite of the ego's incomplete perception of its total nature at this stage, it is vaguely aware of having a soul, and of the soul's will to influence activities and behavior that the ego would prefer to avoid. Also, whereas the soul attempts to establish unity in all things, the ego prefers to view itself as a separate and distinct entity, even going so far as to believe itself fully liberated from its spiritual mother, the soul. As a result, the ego is forever in a survival mode, trying to maintain its identity and protect its perceived rights. Thus, in this stage a battle for control is waged, a struggle by the personality to prevail as the master of its own fate, to avoid exploitation, and to gain dominion over decisions and directions made in life, choices that are often better reserved for the more knowledgeable soul.

From the ego's point of view, its perception of itself as a separate entity is the only true reality. Inner directives from the soul are perceived as direct attacks upon its sovereignty. From the soul's perspective, the ego's choice to perceive itself as a separate entity is perfectly natural. It understands this phase as a necessary development in the overall pattern of growth. Thus, the "conflict" is truly one-sided, arising, and being maintained by, the ego's stubborn adherence to principles of separation.

Because the soul's intent is to experience its Self within its various extensions, the responsibility for resolving any battles remains with the ego. Later, once choices are acknowledged, separation anxiety is experienced, and the problems associated with duality are resolved, differentiation, begun at this stage, can and will lead to effective discernment.

5. Rational-Deductive:

During the rational-deductive phase, the ego attempts to define reality via rigid analytical constructs. "Sound" and "reasonable" notions yeild logical results, hallmarks of egos bound to this realm. Growth at this stage is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, the seeds of true thought are being spawned; on the other, rational processes oppose honest emotional expression. Thus, subconscious storage systems are filled to overflow with repressed material. All of this, however, is in preparation for the final division of the Mind within the human emotional level.

6. Questioning:

Whereas in the rational-deductive phase the seeds of true thought were spawned, albeit at the expense of honest emotional expression, in this phase the seeds of inquisitiveness are born. Although commitment to an idea may be fickle at this stage, respect for differing beliefs impels one onward toward the truth. Thus, in this phase the ability to perceive, acknowledge, and allow for the existence of opposing points of view is honed to a fine degree. In fact, here is where the ego, or lower self, applies the greatest vigor in its attempt to resolve the dilemma of separation consciousness.

As a larger view begins to take shape, subjective states of awareness are realized as truths to behold. Thus, as one dilemma nears a solution -- achieving correct expression of the separative identity -- a new one is formed. If subjective states of awareness are perceived as signs of weakness, the individual is fixated at the rational-deductive phase of growth. If objectivity is seen as subject to one's point of view, the questioning phase is more pronounced.

Summary: Our brief analysis of the second three divisions of the Mind, adding to our understanding of the human emotional level, yields the following: In the personality awareness phase of growth, a private battle is waged against perceived threats to one's assumed identity and separative rights. Directives from the soul are invalidated. In the rational-deductive stage, analytical thinking is established as the definitive mode of self-expression. And in the questioning division of the Mind, rational processes are perceived as unreliable tools, incapable of leading one to the entire truth.

7. Choice Acknowledgement:

Welcome to the seventh level -- choice acknowedgement. Here is where hue-man's evolutionary journey begins to correlate with soul directives. Self-determination is recognized as a viable option. Prior to this stage, the ego deceived itself into believing it was the master of every choice. At best, it questioned fundamental beliefs. Now, in this current growth phase, the ego surrounds itself with numerous alternate viewpoints -- a world of possibilities -- thus recognizing its power to choose and mold its environment.

Although the mechanics of manifestation remain obscure, the evolving ego is aware enough to sense that something or someone (God?) plays an important, if unknown, role in shaping one's life direction. This awareness, however, is not to be confused with the mechanical phase where compliance to authority is robotic. One is blind adherence to a leader; the other is a basic notion that man is divinely inspired. Free will and fate, therefore, are issues of primary concern as the ego precipitates an interactive relationship between inner and outer worlds.

The imagination as an impetus for creative thought is spawned during this period, as are the seeds of personal and interpersonal responsibility, although they won't take root until later stages are achieved. Also, because option awareness can obstruct decisive action, other expressions associated with this stage include apathy, vacillation, indifference, self-resignation, and irresponsibility.

8. Separation Anxiety:

During the choice acknowledgement phase of growth, the ego discovered its capacity to influence and mold its environment, but remained ignorant regarding the details of creative expression. In this current phase -- separation anxiety -- hue-man experiences his fragile allegiance to both the vagaries of the ego and the cryptic impressions coming from the soul. Thus, motion in any direction is all but impossible. (The term "separation anxiety" alludes to the sense of alienation and loss experienced by the ego caught between two worlds -- the familiar but illusionary one being left behind, and the compelling but stress-provoking one that lies ahead.)

At this stage in hue-man's evolutionary journey, the ego senses that it must discard options in favor of preferences. Choices made are still in accordance with personal wants and needs. Until the ego is prepared to commit to God's creative Plan, or the soul's Blueprint for Growth -- which won't occur until later stages are mastered -- emotional and spiritual anxiety will prevail.

Compassion is spawned at this level. However, it is mainly conditional, directed at designated recipients. Psychic and corporeal sensitivity, as well as unity between the thinking and feeling modes of expression, are also developed during this stage.

9. Duality Resolvement:

The "compassion" of the earlier stage may be defined as sympathy born from personal experience. An "affinity," then, is what is truly being conveyed. Until the emotional nature is brought into full alignment with higher purposes, the ability to step outside of oneself to express lofty sentiments, or to perceive the truth, is but an illusion. Thus, distortions between what is experienced, and what truly exists, are immense.

The confusion experienced at this level results more from lacking a firm spiritual foundation, than from a rejection of truth, for at this point in hue-man's evolutionary journey he is eager to resolve his own perceptual disparities. The ego is aware of its dilemma: everything appears true...or false. Strict adherence to root assumptions, whether of a "spiritual" or "material" nature, is no longer possible. Everything means something...or nothing at all. Such bipolar vision serves to accentuate one's feeling of separation from the source. Clarity is gained as self-mastery is sought.

10. Discernment:

The discernment phase marks the intermediate point between a soul's initial entry into physical existence and its exit from the "karmic ferris wheel." Here is where the personality is able to respond, albeit in a preliminary fashion, to its own Blueprint for Growth. However, fluctuations between the pull of the ego and one's individualized higher calling remain extensive.

The seeds of morality are spawned in the discernment phase. The evolving personality continually scrutinizes its true motivations behind each action. Thus, the ability to make decisions in accord with higher principles is honed to a fine degree. This is the most intense developmental stage regarding self-expressive equilibrium. Although "right choices" may feel emotionally correct, the search for truth usually results in a high degree of mental acuity.

11. Understanding:

Understanding, the eleventh oscillation of growth, delineates the soul's ability to allow comprehensive differentials equal leeway within specific modes of arbitrary division allotted to each newly encountered classification. Differential as herein defined refers to unresolved vestiges of bipolar perception -- a calculated allowance for the existence of false beliefs while simultaneously accepting their apparent realities. In this context, linear spans of existence are understood as conceptually inadequate tools for spatial awareness.

Understanding permits an amalgamation of linear perception despite the confounding influences associated with affective and cognitive disharmony. It is derived from discernment, arising from disparate actuality, born of spiritual alienation. True comprehension circumscribes practical and abstract considerations. Thus, during this present phase of the personality extension's journey through physical incarnation, a sweeping foundation is being laid for the highly coveted soul-reunion.

Note: Although it is my sincere desire for all who read this discourse to understand it as well, our excursion into the conceptual realms may leave more than a few seekers slightly bewildered. However, evolutionary attainment here requires the use of new constructs and innovative resources. Once true understanding is achieved, subjective reality is perceived as the only objective truth.

12. Acceptance:

Consummate understanding fosters acceptance -- of oneself, others, and All That Is. Its incomplete expression can manifest as an attempt to force outcomes, or as apathy and indifference. A reversion to earlier stages of spiritual alienation and confusion may occur as well. Therefore, for acceptance to be fully realized, these conditions and other apparent growth reversals must be accepted!

Does acceptance make a difference? All the difference in the world. Is acceptance conceptually superior to the refusal or inability (unquestioning refusal) to accept? Some people accept this as true. Do you? Can you accept both options as equally valid? Or has your discernment taught you otherwise? What about your understanding? Accept!

13. Non-Acceptance (Divine Frustration):

Non-acceptance, or divine frustration, succeeds acceptance. It represents the culmination of mature emotion, and lies just below the threshold of the four peak evolutionary stages.

To the discerning, understanding, and accepting individual, non-acceptance may appear as an evolutionary reversal. In actuality it represents a point in hue-man's advancement where he is no longer willing to idly stand by as the truth to behold is merely beheld. That is why divine frustration more adequately describes this level of growth. At this stage the ego is flustered and disturbed by its degree of spiritual awareness versus its failure to act on newly synthesized directives from the soul. Thus, the will to serve is born from a frustrated will.

Summary: Our brief analysis of the seven divisions of the Mind comprised by the mature emotional level yields the following: Growth at the choice acknowledgement phase may be measured by the ego's incipient awareness of inner strength, and a sense that larger forces contribute to one's destiny. During the separation anxiety phase, hue-man reacts to his perceived isolation from both secure and unknown realms. Perceptual disparities and existential confusion are accentuated during the duality resolvement period. Motivations are scrutinized, and morality cultivated, during the discernment phase. During the understanding stage, subjective comprehension is validated. The acceptance phase nurtures inner peace and universal harmony. And during the non-acceptance phase divine frustration regarding one's perceived inability to act on soul directives is experienced.

14. The Will to Serve:

In the will to serve phase of growth, hue-man has finally reached the lower levels of the emotional prototype. Here is where all of the necessary affective and cognitive tools are available to the integrating ego, including stable aspirations, thus permitting greater access to one's Blueprint for Growth. At this stage, more clearly defined soul directives are able to "filter down" into thy willing vessel. Still, although one's thoughts are mainly centered upon the will to serve, inner growth must continue and intensify.

Action is the developmental keyword. Yet, now it is the soul itself that hinders full engagement. It requires additional purging by the personality extension. Subconscious blocks to further progress (and thus to service) remain locked within the deepest realms of the Mind. In fact, many lifetimes are often "wasted" (repeated) as a result of these inhibitors to full service and the much sought after soul-merge. (Now is a good time to become acquainted with the Ascended Masters and other great beings -- cosmic teachers -- who are aware of your current difficulties. By calling upon them for assistance, you gain the advantage of their more encompassing perspectives.)

15. The Principle of Service:

Here is where the striving personality attempts to shed final vestiges of personal desire. Whereas the will to serve signified the desire minus the unequivocal goal, during the principle of service phase the ego knows the goal -- Blueprint for Growth -- but seeks clarification regarding how to institute proficient manifestation. Once again, this process can be accelerated by initiating contact with the Ascended Masters and other members of the Spiritual Hierarchy -- great beings who assist the children of Earth.

Individuals who are achieving mastery at this level may appear unproductive, for the nearly soul merged personality is solidifying convictions on inner planes. Here is where the integrating ego comes to fully realize its innate power and inherent divinity. The Blueprint for Growth is coming into focus, and methods for its implementation are being negotiated.

16. Service:

Welcome to the lofty service realm. Here is where the mature lower self delights in serving the soul, and by extension, humanity. Practical applications of conceptual truth guide the integrated ego to ultimate Self-expression. Although physical limitations may prevail as impediments to flawless good will, nothing can hinder the ego's desire, and ability, to express its full spiritual identity.

The much sought after Blueprint for Growth, one's divine purpose for living, or "mission" on Earth, is thus actualized as the personality extension acts as a pure channel for the directives of the soul. However, until existing physical limitations are diminished, absolute mastery remains one step away.

17. Self-Actualization:

Congratulations! When the personality is able to consummate and maintain its divine connection, the soul-merge is achieved, and a powerful Self-realized being is born. When the ego becomes fully absorbed by the soul, and the Blueprint for Growth is anchored to the planet via positive and abundant contributions to humanity, the extension no longer needs to experience corporeal existence. All that could be gained within the confines of a dense physical body was achieved. However, many self-actualized beings choose to return to the Earth so that even greater service might be proffered.

Summary: Our brief analysis of the final four divisions of the Mind reveal the following: At the will to serve phase, a yearning to make positive contributions to the planet is experienced, while additional purging of subconscious desires is amplified, and a greater awareness of one's Blueprint for Growth is sought. During the principle of service phase, soul directives are in sharp focus, but guidance regarding their successful execution is required. Eminently consequential Self-expression occurs during the service phase. And a highly productive Self-realized being of light oversees appreciable alms to humanity during the climactic self-actualization stage of growth.

CONCLUSION

Some extensions will dismiss the seventeen divisions of the Mind out of hand. In fact, disbelief is an appropriate expression along the journey. A psychological arrangement of this nature is initially accepted with unequivocal authority. Next, upon reflection, its subjective makeup leaves one questioning its objective reality. At last, once again its validity is apprehended and appreciated, now precisely because it appears variable and creative.

I assert that your excursion through the symbolic framework just presented closely corresponds to corporeal actuality. Therefore, try to determine your current operational level. However, because personalities fluctuate between divisions -- even highly evolved egos existing at elevated levels revert back to earlier stages from time to time -- do not stereotype yourself. Instead, ascertain your "hypothetical" and desired locations within the seventeen divisions of the Mind. I am confident that you will be amply rewarded for such conscientious aspirations.

End.

A Reader Responds:
Have you considered publishing the "17 Divisions of the Mind" either in book form or in a philosophy journal? I see this as extremely valuable. While at University, I was drawn to theodicy, in particular Process Theology/Theodicy, which takes human free will very seriously. I can see similarities in this type of thought and yours, including thoughts on God's knowledge and influence. As I recall, the Process philosophers seemed to stop short when it came to explaining various stages of human evolution -- why we might make the choices we make and how they are appropriate to each stage. I think you could provide some valuable food for thought. I also believe that this sort of understanding could be fundamental in encouraging tolerance. Very, very interesting and thought-provoking!
