Extraterrestrial Guide to Love,
Wisdom and Happiness

By Neil Z. Miller

Death:

Final Rites

Tommy Tombstone's favorite place
To take an evening stroll
Is at the graveyard face-to-face
With ghosts on night patrol.

ghost They guard their turf with mortal fear
That life does not go on
And miss their bodies once it's clear
They are forever gone.

But Tommy knows they need his aid
To move into the light,
And that he should not be afraid
Of spirits in the night.

So there he creeps from grave to grave
To spread the eerie news:
"You ghosts must try to be more brave
And leave your earthly pews.

bat "For death is not the end of life,
Though you may think it's true.
It merely is the end of strife;
Here is another clue:

"When you die, you drop your form
Much like a ton of bricks.
I guarantee this is the norm
To cross the River Styx.

"And once you pass the Great Divide
There's something you will find:
Your senseless fears will all subside
--Grim phantoms of the mind."

So make a ghastly vow today
To greet what death invites,
Then scare your demons all away
And bless your final rites.
