Extraterrestrial Guide to Love,
Wisdom and Happiness

By Neil Z. Miller

Gluttony:

A Piece of Cake

The food you eat from day to day
To fuel your daily chores,
Inspires some of you to pray
"Thank God for grocery stores!"

You dream about your favorite food,
Then salivate and drool.
A simple taste upgrades your mood,
You are so flavor-fool.

Icecream Icecream For some of you a steak is king,
For some, a candy bar.
A few of you like everything,
And jump into your car.

You race to mart and grab a cart
To fill it with your bread,
From shelf to shelf you quickly dart
With eyes bulged from your head.

Two pounds of this, a box of that,
Your heart is filled with glee.
But then you count the carbs or fat
And guilt slows down your spree.

The truth about the food you eat
Is full of fancy fable.
Of course, sometimes it's just a treat
And hard to leave the table.
Pizza

More often, though, the foods you like
May cause some irritation.
Then your body goes on strike,
--A plea for moderation.

So redirect your fare-crazed zeal,
We have a toast to make:
Restrain yourself at every meal;
It is a piece of cake!
